Prof Rajendra B Kakde joined All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as an Adviser from 1st September 2020. Previously he was Professor at Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.
He obtained his Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University in 1993, 1995 and 2002 respectively. He also did Bachelor in English Literature from Amravati University. He has total of 25 years experience in teaching and industry. He is the Member of IPA, APTI, ISCA, CPCSEA and SFE.
As an academician, he is approved Ph.D guide and his area of research is Pharmaceutical Analysis, Impurity Profiling, Bioanalysis, Bio-actives and Natural Products. Eight students awarded Ph.D and forty students awarded PG under his able guidance. He has to his credit more than 125 research papers and presentations in national and international research journals and conferences. He has published two books namely Research Methodology and Text Book of Pharmaceutics. He is reviewer for more than 10 national and international reputed journals. He has experience of industry by working with Cadila, Lupin and Glenmark in research and development.
Dr. Kakde completed major research projects from DST/SERB, AICTE and RUSA. He also completed minor research project URPS under university scheme. He fetches the research grant of more than 2.5 Crore for research and development. He developed RUSA Centre for Bio-actives and Natural Products which is equipped with LCMS, GCMS, UPLC, X-RD etc and started research facility for the research students at minimum sampling rates. The center starts generating consultancy from the industries and researchers from affiliated colleges.
Dr. Kakde as a Senate Member (2010-2015) and Academic Council Member (2015-2020) made significant contribution in reforms in examination and syllabus pattern. He served as Dean of faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies as well as Coordinator of faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He also served as member of BOS and RRC in RTMNU as well as many other universities. Dr. Kakde was nominated as Honorary Director of Technology Park of RTMNU (2015-2020), Director of RUSA (2016-2020) and Director of USIC (2019-2020). He has served as Chairman and member on many committees of the university includes Perspective Plan, Autonomy Granting, Ordinance, Academic Administrative Audit, IQAC, NAAC, Research Advisory Committee, LEC, Selection Panel etc. Dr. Kakde acts as Judge in MP-COST, CG-COST and Avishkar (Research Festival of Maharashtra). He delivered more than 25 talks as a Resource Person. He also organized many National and International level conferences, symposium, seminars, workshops, patent awareness, and training programmes.
He is visiting Professor at Portsmouth University, Portsmouth, United Kingdom and works in collaborative project with School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences. He is also recipient of CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership (QCF). He had participated in UKIERI programme organised by AICTE in 2016.
He has been bestowed with several awards which includes Best Teacher Award (2016) from Rashtrasant Tukadoji Mahraj Nagpur University for excellence in Academics and Research, Best Research Paper Award (2011, 2017), Best Paper Presentation Award (2010,2019) etc.
Dr. Kakde emphasis on quality education, e-learning, start up, entrepreneurship, collaborative multidisciplinary and skill development based education. He visited many countries like United States of America, Switzerland & United Kingdom.
