NEW DELHI: The Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE will be one of the 48 nodal centres for the finale of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) being organized by the Government of India across the country simultaneously on March 2 and 3, 2019. The hackathon aims to promote digital drive and encourage digital nous to make growth a mass programme and put governance within everyone’s reach through innovation and entrepreneurship.

HYDERABAD: Starting from the forthcoming academic year, the Telangana collegiate and technical education department is set to introduce a list of subjects and combinations to make the curriculum more versatile. This is in addition to the mandatory massive online open courses (MOOCs). With the introduction of these reforms, degree and professional college students will have the flexibility to learn from a range of topics such as soft-skills and liberal arts among others.

COIMBATORE: A total of 55 student teams, comprising more than 400 students from colleges across the country have converged at two city colleges to participate in the finale of the third edition of Smart India Hackathon 2019, a 36-hour continuous coding competition conducted by the ministry of human resource development and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The hackathon is being held in 48 nodal centres across the country of which six are in the state.

BENGALURU: With state-run engineering colleges not ramping up infrastructure and fixing the staff shortage problem, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has decided to reduce 40,000 seats in government colleges across the country. Every year, about 10 lakhs engineering seats are available across India.

Sahasrabudhe, who was addressing a workshop at a private engineering institute here Sunday, said the council encouraged more industry-institute interaction and innovation in entrepreneurship.

Thiruvananthapuram: The AICTE's latest proposition that engineering colleges swelling with vacant seats may start arts and science courses to overcome the crisis is unlikely to work out in favour of a majority of engineering colleges in the brink of closure in Kerala. Latest statistics show that 50% of seats in self-financing engineering colleges in the state remains vacant after the completion of admission procedure. While the state government is yet to make up its mind on the policy decisions to be taken to restore order and quality in engineering education sector, engineering college managements too have not yet been able to develop a long-term strategy for quality assurance and survival.

NEW DELHI: The All Indian Council for Technical Education(AICTE) has given a verdict regarding the existing institutions and the upcoming ones. As per AICTE there won’t be any new engineering colleges from the academic session 2020-2021. AICTE has even declared that it would review the new creation capacity after every two academic years.
